Crushed

Into oblivion the dust has disappeared –
from the mass graves
of native peoples
to
the concentration camps
of millions slain
to
the coveted land of freedom
where innocence lost.
Into oblivion the dust has disappeared –
but not from our hearts,
not from our tears;
still there
their souls live
their love shines.
For as they were crushed
we are formed;
as they were obliterated
we are born;
as we remember
we are adorned.
