At the Foot of Your Cross

I have stayed at the foot of Your cross
every moment since first I found You.
There, I feel worthy,
understood,
accepted,
there at the foot of Your cross.
The dark shadow of death it carries
has covered a lifetime of struggle
produced a blanket for my pain
nursed the broken child within.
The humiliation You suffered
broke through the sickness
tore apart my victim
shattered the shame.
At the foot of Your cross
I have stayed,
fearing the walk to Your tomb
fearing what lurked within…
…the tomb of my soul revealed
almost too much to bear,
until…
Your hand in mine
we walk together
footsteps fading in the sand
heartbeats forever joined…
We look back to the place where we met
at the foot of Your cross left pure
and remember the mercy, the grace
and the Love on Your Father’s Face.
