Superstitions
the worst one –
God will keep from me
all that He knows I want.
That’s why I spent my life
trying not to dream
but dreaming anyway
trying not to hope
but hoping every day
dreaming
hoping
that maybe, just maybe
the promises in that great book
were meant for me, too –
“plans to prosper
…not harm
plans to give hope
…a Home.”*
