Does that tiny seed feel pain
when it cracks open
to become?
Does it sweat and struggle
as it pushes roots deep below
the dark, unknown, grime of the earth?
Does it know why
it suffers
as it grows?
Does any of that matter
when the blooming daisy
feels the light of the sun all around?
