Not On My Own

What do I know
that makes me so bold
to judge?
Oh, that my eyes
may be struck blind,
my ears slammed shut,
my tongue silenced!
For I am not able
of my own power
to cease from
seeing the failings of others,
hearing their indiscretions,
hastily telling the world of its iniquities.
Only as my God
renders me blind, deaf, and mute
will I ever be able
to truly see,
fully hear,
humbly speak.
