This morning,
I did the math – 
how long You have waited,
unobtrusively patient
and 
definitively true – 
while I flailed about, 
willfully ignorant
and
terribly proud.
The numbers don’t paint me
in pretty colors.
The calculations don’t
make any sense…

…never You mind 
my fumbling 
over all this…

…I never was
very good at math.
