Dear God:
 As I look back over this year and all the disappointments, cancellations, sickness and death, I see where my attachments to worldly things and outcomes have only served to separate me from You and from others.
 So, today God, I pray for all of humanity. As we await the dawn of this new year, pour into us all we need to follow the path You lay before us each day. I pray that we will all trust You and Your way, instead of all that which in the past has only kept us from You and from each other. 
 Save us, dear God, from ourselves. 
 Amen.
