Knowing nothing about me, the great oak refreshed me with cool shade on a hot, summer day. Never having seen me before, the blooming lilacs comforted me with their aroma of sweet memory. With nothing to gain from me, the morning sun welcomed me shining brightly to guide my way. Oh, if I may give as they give, then I may know freedom the freedom to love in this way. *With gratitude for the writings of Anthony de Mello
