The Psalm of My Heart Today

The grass burns beneath my feet;
the mud and mire of the earth
shake with great force –
crumbling into dust all around,
clouding my eyes,
parching my tongue.
I cannot move.
I cannot see.
I cannot breathe.
Save me, O God,
from the chaos of man;
save me, O God,
from the blindness of self;
save me, O God,
from withering in fear.
For I trust in You only,
O God!
I put my trust not in man,
and most certainly not in my self.
Only in you, O God,
will I be saved.
