Ode to James 2:14-17

The pray-er asking for sustenance
goes forth to provide for the weak.
The pray-er asking for protection
gives sanctuary to those in need.
The pray-er asking for healing
offers a salve for the sick.
The pray-er asking for patience
listens with ears that open into the heart.
The pray-er asking for grace
forgives the transgression of the other.
The pray-er asking for love
welcomes all who cross their path.
Pray without ceasing, my friends,
for God will always hear your prayer.
Serve with selflessness, my fellows,
for God will always sense your care.
