Purify My Heart

This statement keeps popping up in front of me
vibrantly colorful like red tulips in spring
or the burnt orange oak trees of autumn,
catching my eye
and holding my breath in suspense…

…purify the intentions of my heart…

…like the softest, whitest
first snowfall in December,
silence the dirt and grime
of work and play and need and want
and cover my heart
with rest
and healing…
…cleanse
the desires
too small to serve
and the wishes
too fantastic to be real…
…reveal the designs
adorned with life and love
and truth pure as
an orb of fire peeking over
the horizon of new morning…
…mold the intentions of my heart
into the sunrise of Your days…

  1. A beautiful poem which I can connect with a beautiful song which I have been privileged to sing in worship with the same title, Purify my Heart..
