How many
“Thank Yous”
would ever be enough
to illustrate
the appreciation in my heart?
There are not nearly enough breaths
or lifetimes of speech
to explain
how grateful I am.
So, I will do my best
to show You
as I walk through
humdrum days
and toward unknown horizons,
in how I welcome
the eyes of the other;
in how I comfort
the heart of the lonely;
in how I accept
the face of the hardened;
in how I love
the soul of all children.
It is the best
I can do,
I know.
For in their eyes
You see me;
in their hearts
You hold me;
in their faces
You reflect me;
in their souls
You call to me.
Where there are
not enough words,
Love resides.
