Listen

Waves rhythmically crash and disappear upon the shore,
while we watch television inside.
Birdsongs vanish into the evening air,
as car horns blare in gridlock frustration.
Drops of rain splash and scatter over green summer leaves
during the drunken spat at a family picnic.
The hum of ten thousand crickets fades away
while the rush to make the morning bus ensues.

Listen.

A snowflake drifts gently through the frosty winter air
covering the world in silence,
calm,
deep
complete
sleep…
…rest from the noise
the misery of all attachments…
