My bus ticket has been purchased. I have a ride to and from the bus station at the beginning and end of my trip. A Google map for walking through the city safely has been outlined by two supportive friends who spent time living and working in Manhattan. I have prayed for God to “remove my fear and direct my attention to what He would have me be”.
At this moment, I can think of no better prayer for me to utter as I gaze upon the Father Mychal Judge pilgrimage that has been placed before me than the one printed in the picture at the top of this blog – Mychal’s Prayer. How better than to pray it unceasingly throughout the day tomorrow, as Mychal prayed unceasingly himself for most of his life? How better for me to honor the life of this man – and the life he has brought to me through his ultimate sacrifice – than to let God’s Spirit guide me by his words?
I suppose all that is left at this moment is to say:
Thank you, Mychal. Thank you for living as you did, for dying as you did, and for carrying on in Spirit as you are. I can’t wait to see what you have in store for me tomorrow.
Jessica,
God bless you on your journey of faith and love, protect and guide you. May you return in peace and joy after having walked in the footsteps of your newly found brother–Father Mychal.
