Until the seed
recognizes
the darkness all around
for what it truly is

– fertile soil offering space for growth –

it will dwell
fearfully
within itself,
stuck in the muck
unable to penetrate
its coat of armor.

But when it
receives
its need
for
the life-giving truth
found only in its
opening
to
the darkness all around,
roots take hold
and
it can finally
shoot for the stars.
