When the tiny little 
enormously complicated 
three-letter word 
swims through your mind 
and plummets 
desperately 
and 
wantingly
into your heart 
until it can no longer be muffled 
emerging boldly 
against all the knowledge 
and 
understanding 
you have ever grasped 
about your relationship with God – 

WHY?

– allow it to breathe for a moment
suspended in mid-air
time
and 
space 
unmoving and rapidly fading at the same time – 
and as it hangs there 
and 
you wait for the answer  
ask yourself this:

What am I holding tight 
to 
my 
self 
that is blocking me from God? 

In the painfully honest answer 
to that question 
lies the answer 
to the original
 
WHY?
