A Prayer for One Year After My Baptism

Dear God:

Oh, how I am still so much like Simon Peter – the one who insisted on his way, the one who barreled through things without thinking, the one who denied You – and also the one who carried Your message with others, disagreeable and judgmental at times, and also, compassionate and so much like You at others.

The year just past has taught me so much – about me, and about You. Most especially it taught me that living in Your peace is the only Way for me – and I am willing to do anything to keep it – especially when I notice the world trying to yank it out of my heart, as quickly as a rug from under my feet.

Thank You, God, for being my Center, my Foundation, and my Cornerstone. I pray to be a grateful steward of Your Word in all I think, say, and do today. I pray to live in the peace of my Lord, Jesus Christ, trusting the timing of His Spirit living inside of me, and knowing that this time – right now – is my time to answer the question: “Do you love me?” as many times as You ask!

With a grateful and humble heart, I pray all these things,
Amen.
