Dear God:
Thank You for awakening me to this day. The peace of this morning is more special to me than all those that came before it.
As I sit here listening to the joyful songs and tweets and coos of the bird families outside my window, I feel welcomed into the day. I know You have blessed us all with the breath of Your Holy Spirit, and I embrace my place in Your family.
The hardest part for me – as You already know – is when I go out from here. So quickly, I become distracted by others who are distracted; and before I know it, I am spiraling into a vortex of self-righteous judgment, intolerance, gossip, and self-pity. 
Please protect me from the distractions of this world so that I might remain in this glorious peacefulness that is our union. May I feel Your presence first in each moment that comes; and therefore, follow Your leading to nourish and replenish my soul all throughout this day.
