Seek me, Lord, in my selfishness – 
in the self-pity that keeps me from self-care,
in the self-righteousness that keeps me from kindness,
in the self-centeredness that keeps me from compassion,
in the self-flagellation that keeps me from Your mercy,
in the self-defeating behaviors that keep me from Your grace.
Seek me, Lord, in the smallness of my self – 
for it is there alone and lonely and scared
where I long to see Your face.
