so thick with stone
and ancient rocks 
from the depths of the earth – 
all melded together
blocking out voices
and shielding from harm – 
preventing connection – 
its girth, fixed
in a state immovable.
This great barrier 
breeding
loneliness,
separation,
blame,

dis-ease.
