The Great Barrier

It is a wall so sturdy
so thick with stone
and ancient rocks
from the depths of the earth –
all melded together
blocking out voices
and shielding from harm –
preventing connection –
its girth, fixed
in a state immovable.
This great barrier
breeding
loneliness,
separation,
blame,
and
dis-ease.

My judgment
of you
and
my judgment
of me
standing not only between us
but between God
and between me.
