Everything learned
in classrooms
on the streets
during slumber parties
and
fumbling make-out sessions in his father’s car –
all that stuff
the flash-card answers
the secret codes
the jaw-dropping innuendos
and
the breath-taking revelations
now reside in
a wasteland of answers –
no longer needed
or wanted
or sought –
for now
what is brought to mind
comes only from the heart,
the center of the soul,
in a wistful whisper
called
the
serenity
of
unknowing.
