Praying

The day begins in the silence of this embrace,
as a candle flickers in breezes from somewhere else.

My heart is calmed with the first familiar words,
my soul’s desire brought about in those that follow.

The room fills with a radiant hue
also from the place where breezes roam,
settling in a softness undiscovered
in any other moment.

Warmth enters, forgiveness abounds,
rays of light expose the fears of night.

A tear, maybe,
for joy
for sadness
for overwhelming gratitude.

Spirit rejoices
so do I.
